arrest

ALAPPUZHA: The special team of the police arrested the accused in the case of attacking a health worker in Alappuzha. The two arrested have been identified as Rocky Roy of Kadakkavoor and Nishanth of Kadinakulam. Police said they were regular accused in theft cases. There are many cases pending against them in Kollam, Kottayam and Thiruvananthapuram rural stations.

Police had earlier understood that a professional team was behind the crime by the manner in which the health worker was attacked. Accordingly, Rocky and Nishanth were on the list of regular criminals prepared by the probe team. However, it was not sure whether they were the ones who attacked the health worker. The police got only an unclear CCTV footage of the accused from the spot. However, after getting more evidence, the police arrested them last night.

Rocky was caught very dramatically. The police got information that Rocky, a regular offender, was traveling in a bus through Kollam last night. The police followed the bus and apprehended Rocky after stopping the bus. The investigating officials arrested Nishanth from his house in Kadinamkulam. Police said the details could be divulged only after questioning them.

The 35-year-old woman health worker was hit with a helmet by the two and they also tried to rob and kidnap her while she was returning home on a two wheeler after Covid duty.
