KOCHI: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Wednesday is conducting raids at the Popular Front and SDPI centres in the state. The ED is conducting raids in Idukki, Muvattupuzha, Malappuram and Kannur. The party activists staged a big protest in front of the house of Shafeeq, SDPI activist, where a raid is on in Kannur. The activists have thronged the place. The raid is in connection with a case pertaining to foreign funding.
The SDPI activists also protested in Eramangalam in Malappuram where the raid was conducted. The raid was at the residence of Razzaq Kuttikadan, president of the Popular Front Perumbadappu division. In many places, there were disputes and altercations with activists, police and ED officials.
Although the cause of the raid has not been officially released by the ED, there are some indications that apart from the Delhi riots, it was a continuation of raids on the homes of Popular Front and SDPI state leaders. The raid, which started at 10.30 am in various parts of the state, is still going on.
