38,417 teenagers received Covid vaccine on first day, Thiruvananthapuram records highest number of vaccinations

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Health Minister Veena George has announced that 38,417 children between the ages of 15 and 18 have been vaccinated with Covid vaccine on the first day in the state. The children were given Covaxin. Thiruvananthapuram district is leading with 9338 teenager receiving the first dose of the vaccine. Kollam district came second with 6868 people vaccinated and Thrissur district came third with 5018 people vaccinated. There were 551 vaccination centres for children.

Most of the centres experienced good crowds of teenagers. No side effects have been reported in anyone who received the vaccine today.

District-wise breakdown of vaccination

Thiruvananthapuram 9338, Kollam 6868, Pathanamthitta 1386, Alappuzha 3009, Kottayam 1324, Idukki 2101, Ernakulam 2258, Thrissur 5018, Palakkad 824, Malappuram 519, Kozhikode 1777, Wayanad 1644, Kannur 1613 and Kasargod 738 were vaccinated.

As part of the vaccination drive, which will continue till January 10, there will be special vaccination centres for children on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday at District, General and Taluk Hospitals and Community Health Centers and on Tuesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday at Primary and Family Health Centers.
