Schools will not be closed; expert advice will be sought if spread of disease is severe, says V Sivankutty

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Education Minister V Sivankutty said that in the present situation the closure of schools is not under consideration. He said a decision would be taken after seeking expert opinion if the Covid spread is severe. He added that the report of the Khader Committee to reform the school education sector would be implemented in a timely manner.

The minister informed this at a time when the number of Covid cases are rising in the state again. The number of patients has been increasing daily for the last two days. 230 people have so far been confirmed of Omicron in the state. The test positivity rate was 3.75%. However, the number of patients and TPR has been rising sharply over the past two days. 4,801 people were confirmed of Covid yesterday. The test positivity rate is 6.75%.
