ABU DHABI: ‘Twin’ couples from Kuttanad have won half crore in the weekend lottery of Abu Dhabi big ticket. The ticket bought by non-resident Indians cum twin brothers Ramesh Nair and Ratheesh Nair of Kadoor Kunjasadhanam in Nedumudi panchayat, along with their wives cum twin sisters Savitha and Saritha, had won the prize. The prize money is 2.5 lakh Dirham (Rs 50.88 Lakh).
The ticket was taken in the name of Savitha, who is a clinical staff nurse in Jahra under the health ministry of Kuwait. Both Ramesh and Ratheesh are safety officers in a private company. Savitha and Saritha are natives of Kuravilangadu. The fortune has come unexpectedly to the families who were unaware of the draw of the weekly lottery prior to the grand lottery.
Both the families used to buy tickets regularly for the past two years. The brothers who are also theatre artists are a permanent presence in the NRI organizations. Ramesh and Ratheesh are the sons of former member of Nedumudi panchayat and Mathoor Padashekara committee secretary cum former manager of Nedumudi Nair Samaj, K M Sashidharan Nair and Leelamma. Siblings: Raju, Rosh, Reji. Ramesh-Savitha’s son: Abhinav, Rathesh-Saritha’s children: Niranjan, Nirajith.
