PALAKKAD: Babu of Cherad rescued after trapped in a steep hill in Malampuzha has been shifted to the hospital. He was airlifted to Kanjikode from top of the hill and rushed to the hospital in an ambulance. Babu was rushed to Palakkad district hospital from Kanjikode. The Air Force helicopter MI17 arrived to airlift him. Babu was rescued by the army in the morning and brought to the top. Babu was strapped to one of the rescuers and lifted him 400 meters’ top. Two units of the Army took part in the rescue operations. Babu sustained minor injuries in his leg.
He was trapped in the steep hill for nearly forty-six hours. The youth, along with two others had on Monday decided to climb to the top of Cherad hill there, but the other two abandoned the effort halfway. However, Babu continued to climb to the top, and after reaching there, slipped and fell and got trapped between rocks on the mountain face
His friends tried to rescue him by throwing creepers and tree branches but could not. They then climbed down and informed the locals. Babu himself informed the police about the incident.
