THRISSUR: Actor and Rajya Sabha MP Suresh Gopi called on the union finance minister, to seek funds for urban development. The move comes amid the allocation of Rs 1 crore for the development of a fish market in Sakthan Nagar. The actor himself shared the news in his official social media page. Suresh Gopi shared a picture of the meeting at the office of the Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, with a note saying that the Thrissur mayor will be present at the next such meeting.

Later, a petition was also filed considering the mayor’s request seeking central assistance for the development of Sakthan Nagar. During a meeting with the corporation mayor last month, Suresh Gopi had assured that he would meet the Union Finance Minister soon. The current visit comes in the wake of the actor’s assurance.
In the meantime, Suresh Gopi has been undertaking works centered around Thrissur as part of his preparations for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. He visits Thrissur at least twice a month and is active in organizing events and visiting dignitaries.
