Woman taken to Goa in pretext of love, raped after giving drugs, left her when money ran out; man on remand

KOZHIKODE: A young man arrested in a case of abducting and raping a young woman on the pretext of getting married has been remanded. The court remanded 32-year old Adeep of Adeep Mahal. He was arrested near his relative's house in Naduvattam by a team led by Beypore Inspector V Sajith.

He abducted the woman to Goa pretending love and later allegedly drugged and raped her. According to police, the accused left the woman at the Mangalore railway station on her way back when she ran out of money after selling the jewelery. The woman was found in a mentally unstable condition at the Mangalore railway station following a complaint lodged by her relatives.

The woman was brought to Kozhikode from Mangalore by the police and was produced in court. Later she was admitted to the hospital. The allegations came to light when the woman, who was recovering after two months of treatment, was further questioned. The probe was led by SI C Abdul Wahab, ASI P Arun and senior CPO Vinod.
