KOCHI: The house of a CPM party activist was set on fire in Thrikkakara. The house of Manju in Athani was set on fire early Sunday morning at 1 am. The Thrikkakara police have taken one of their neighbours into custody in connection with the incident. Political enmity is not the reason for the fire.

There were some disputes between the arrested and Manju. Initial reports said he set the house on fire under the influence of alcohol. The house has been completely damaged in the fire. The incident happened when Manju had gone for Edapllay Perunnal last evening. A major tragedy was averted as there was no one at home at the time of the incident. However, six rabbits in the house had died.

CPM district secretary C N Mohanan and other leaders visited her house in the morning. Manju is an Asha worker and is close to everyone. Mohanan alleged that her house was attacked in connection with the election. He said it was a brutal move to wipe out Manju and her family and demanded that the culprits be brought before law as early as possible.
