Major scam by offering jobs abroad, youths file complaint with police

THRISSUR: A complaint was lodged that a fraud gang took money from several youths in Kerala by promising them painting work in Ethiopia. Rs 75,000 was taken from each of them. The youths from various districts who had been cheated gathered in Thrissur and lodged a complaint with the police.

The swindlers had ensured job with a salary of Rs 50,000 per month. According to the victims, the scam was perpetrated by Delhi-based company Airlink.

Candidates applied after seeing an online advertisement. The swindlers demanded Rs 75,000 for the job. The agreement and visa were first sent by the fraud team. Later they took Rs 50,000 from the youth. After the flight ticket arrived, they paid the remaining Rs 25,000 to the gang. It was only when they arrived at the airport with the fake flight ticket issued by them that they came to know about the scam.
