Vignesh Vijayakumar now owns Thar donated to Guruvayur, re-auction fixed at Rs 43 lakh

THRISSUR: Vignesh Vijayakumar, a businessman in Dubai has owned the Mahindra Thar donated to Guruvayur Temple through re-auction. He fixed the auction for Rs 43 lakh. Fourteen including Vighnesh Vijayakumar from Angadipuram in Malappuram participated in the auction.

The Thar given as offering by Mahindra Group was auctioned on December 18 in 2021 at the Melpathur Auditorium. Amal Mohammed Ali, a resident of Edapally in Ernakulam won the bid for a price of Rs 15 lakh. He participated in the auction through his friend Subhash Panicker who hails from Guruvayur and won the bid, paying an additional Rs 10,000 on the base price.

In the meanwhile, Hindu Seva Samiti filed a complaint in the high court alleging that the auction was not conducted properly. Following this, the court directed the Devaswom Commissioner to take a decision after meeting the two parties. The Devaswom Commissioner then decided to hold the auction again.
