THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Leader of the Opposition V D Satheeshan wants the government to ask the CBI to investigate crimes related to gold smuggling case under the supervision of the High Court. Satheesan's submission at the concluding day of the Legislative Assembly session led to a debate between ruling party and the Opposition. Also, the opposition leaders boycotted the assembly.

The Chief Minister replied that the government can't ask for such an investigation as gold smuggling is not an issue regarding state. The opposition protested in front of the Speaker's chamber and raised a banner for 20 minutes and then boycotted the House. Following this, the Speaker announced that the House was adjourned.

Satheesan had alleged that the Enforcement Directorate is a tool of the Centre to eliminate political opponents and keep those who are in favour of them. ED is trying to subvert the gold smuggling case by shifting it to Bengaluru. The verbal spat between CM and the Opposition leader continued in the assembly.
