NEW DELHI: Monkeypox which is spreading worldwide after Covid, has been confirmed in New Delhi. A 34-year-old man was diagnosed with the disease. He has no history of foreign travel and this raises concern. The union health ministry has confirmed the disease in the national capital. He was admitted to Maulana Azad Medical College Hospital after showing symptoms of the disease.

Three in Kerala were confirmed of the disease. The first two cases were reported in Kollam and Kannur and the third in Malappuram. The three confirmed of the disease had come from abroad. It is a relief to the health department that they had not spread the disease to others so far.

The WHO had on Saturday declared Monkeypox as a global public health emergency of international concern.

The WHO held an emergency meeting last month to decide whether to declare Monkeypox a public health emergency. WHO chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said five deaths had been reported so far.
