MUMBAI: A Mangaluru – Mumbai flight was delayed six hours after a passenger raised alarm over a suspicious text message. The flight was delayed following the suspicion that the plane will be sabotaged on August 14, Sunday noon at Mangaluru International Airport. The dramatic events took place in an IndiGo flight en route to Mangaluru.
The trouble started when a young woman complained about a message on her fellow passenger's mobile phone. Following the complaint, all the passengers were asked to deboard the plane and their luggage was carefully examined for any signs of sabotage.
On seeing a suspicious message on a fellow passenger's mobile phone, the woman went on to alert the cabin crew. Soon after, the cabin crew informed the matter to the air traffic controller.
The passenger had been chatting with his girlfriend, who was waiting in
Bengaluru to board the same flight. According to the police, two friends were chatting on WhatsApp and another person had overseen the message where he saw some issue which led to panic.
As the passenger was questioned for several hours, he was unable to board the flight. His girlfriend also could not board the flight. All 185 passengers were allowed to board the flight only after a lot of delay. The flight took off at 5 pm.
