Grandson arrested for killing cancer patient grandmother

KUNNIKODE: Kunnikode police have arrested a grandson for killing his grandmother, who was a cancer patient. Ponnamma (90) was killed by grandson Suresh Kumar (30).

The incident happened around 4 pm on September 9. On the next day, when the funeral rites were to be held, the relatives and locals, who were suspicious of the death, informed the police. After scientific and forensic examination, Kunnikode police registered a case of unnatural death. The body was shifted to Paripally Medical College Hospital mortuary for post-mortem. Suresh Kumar confessed to the crime during interrogation. The police said that Suresh Kumar attacked her when he was enraged she scolded him while eating.

The accused was arrested by Kunnikode police station officers under the leadership of Kollam rural SP KB Ravi and Kottarakara DYSP D Vijayakumar.
