THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan will meet Karnataka CM Basavaraj Bommai to discuss railway related issues including SilverLine and Nilambur-Nanchankode railway line. The meeting is scheduled for Sunday at 9.30 am in Bengaluru. It is reported that the two will discuss the extension of the SilverLine to Mangaluru. Apart from this, Pinarayi Vijayan will participate in the public meeting and mass rally organized by CPM in Bagepalli.

In the South India Council meeting held in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala had sought Karnataka's support to extend the SilverLine to Mangaluru. The council agreed to discuss the SilverLine issue between the Chief Ministers. Tomorrow's discussion is also based on that.

The government's stance is to go ahead with the project if the Centre gives approval. Kerala's hope is that with the support of the BJP-ruling Karnataka government, the Centre's approval can be obtained quickly. Kerala will hand over the technical information including the DPR to Karnataka. Discussions will also be held regarding the Thalassery Mysuru and Nilambur Nanchankode railway lines.
