Pushpan arrives to bid farewell to his dear comrade Kodiyeri Balakrishnan

THALASSERY: Pushpan, the living martyr of CPM arrived at Thalassery town hall to pay homage to former party state secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishanan. Pushpan, who was bedridden was brought in a stretcher to the hall by party workers around 7 pm. He was in tears while paying tribute to the leader. Kodiyeri used to visit Pushpan in Thalassery.

Kodiyeri was the Kannur district secretary when Koothuparambu shooting incident took place. Five people were shot dead by the police without warning for protesting by showing black flag against then Minister MV Raghavan. Pushpan, who was fatally injured in the shooting was bedridden and staying at his home in Manekkara. Pushpan expressed interest to see Kodiyeri for the last time, so the party workers took him to the town hall in an ambulance. The When Pushpan saluted his dear comrade raising ‘Lal Salam’ slogan, it became an emotional scene.

After the public viewing at Thalassery, the body will be taken to the residence at Madapeedika. There will be a public viewing here till 10 am on Monday. The body will be taken for public viewing at Kannur district committee office from 11 am. The cremation will be held at Payyambalam, Kannur on Monday at 3 pm.
