THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A Vigilance team on Thursday conducted a surprise inspection at the sub-registrar office, Kattakkada. The officials seized an unaccounted amount of Rs 60,000 from the office. The money was recovered from a room where the old records were kept, the officials and an agent in the office.

The Vigilance conducted the inspection based on confidential information received by Thiruvananthapuram Special Investigation-2, SP Ajayakumar, Thiruvananthapuram.
A report will be submitted to the Director of Vigilance against the officials involved in bribery. Vigilance officials, who were part of the inspection, said that it has become evident that even if the needy apply online to register their deeds, the officials are hesitant to take further action without receiving a bribe.
