Stepfather arrested for sexually assaulting 15-year-old girl

THRIPPUNITHARA: Stepfather Roshin Thomas (29), has been arrested for sexually assaulting 15-year-old girl after getting her drunk. He provided beer to the girl and she dozed off having that. He then raped her. The accused is a native of Kumily, Idukki and has been arrested by Thrippunithara police led by SI V Gopakumar.

The incident happened at the start of this month. The accused, an ambulance driver at a private hospital in Thrippunithara was living together with a woman from Vadakancherry. The eldest daughter of her three daughters from her first marriage is the victim. The woman was working abroad as a nurse and the girls were staying at a hostel. Roshin brought the girls from the hostel to his rented house in pretence of a party for winning a lottery. Then he drugged the elder daughter and raped her. The girl who experienced physical discomfort, reported this to the school principal. The principal informed the Thrippunithura police. The accused was produced in court and remanded.
