MUMBAI: Tata Sons former director RK Krishnakumar has passed away in Mumbai. Currently, he was a trustee of Tata Trust. Krishnakumar has been behind many important acquisitions of the Tata Group. He is a native of Thalassery. He was also a trustee of Sir Dorabji Tata Trust and Sir Ratan Tata Trust, which held 66 per cent stake in Tata Sons. The £271 million purchase of Tetley in 2000 helped to turn Tata Global Beverages into the world's second largest tea company. In 2009, the country honoured him with the Padma Shri. Krishnakumar joined Tata Administrative Services in 1963.
Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has expressed condolences on his demise. Chief Minister said that he was a person who has proved his ability by leading various initiatives of Tata.
