WAYANAD: Forest Minister AK Saseendran said that the death of a farmer in a tiger attack is an incident taken seriously by the government.

"Wild animal attacks are occurring in various parts. Many measures have been taken but no results have been seen. The protests are looked upon as the reactions of the people in fear", the minister said.

"Wild animals attacks occur even in places that have no connection with the forest. The forest is overpopulated with animals. The government have discussed the birth control among wild animals", he added.

Saseendran said that the government is with the farmers who are struggling due to wild animals and will conduct a study on the number of animals that the forest area can accommodate. "Government action has been stayed by the Supreme Court. An urgent petition will be filed against this", Saseendran informed.

"Actions including relocation of animals are part of this. Scientific methods will be used for this. Relocation and culling are possibilities. If necessary, a rapid action force will be sent to Wayanad and the services of more animal doctors will be ensured there", the forest minister added.
