PALAKKAD: Palakkad Tusker -7 (PT 7) which has been causing fear in Dhoni has been tranquilized. A 75-team led by Arun Zachariah from Wayanad tranquilized the wild tusker. PT 7 found near the forest border between Mundur and Dhoni was under the surveillance of the forest department. Forest Minister A K Saseendran said the movements of the elephant were being monitored and the mission was a success. The locals shared their happiness in tranquilizing the tusker and said that it was a temporary solution to their worries for days.
The task force team left Sunday early morning to capture the elephant that had moved in the inner forest the other day. This was after finding that the elephant is in Corma area of Dhoni. Efforts are now underway to safely release the tranquilized elephant from the forest. Efforts have been made to pave the way and JCB and lorries have been brought for it. Steps will be taken only after 45 minutes of being drugged.
The task force ended their attempt to tranquilize the tusker as it moved to the inner of the forest. Three Kumki elephants like Surendran, Bharath and Vikram are also there. PT7 has been causing fear since November 2022 at Dhoni, Mayapuram, Mundoor and other areas.
