Virat Kohli scripts history, breaks Sachin's major record in ODIs

MUMBAI: Another record was shattered by Virat Kohli as he now holds the record of scoring more than a thousand runs in a calendar year for the most number of times. He crossed 1000 runs in 2023 in the World Cup match against Sri Lanka.

Kohli surpassed the milestone in the 11th over of the match when he was on 34. This is the eighth time Kohli has scored more than 1000 runs in a year.

Sachin has crossed 1000 runs in a year on seven occassions. Currently, Kohli is second in the list of players who have scored the most centuries in ODIs. If he scores one more century, Kohli will join Sachin's all-time record.
