
BENGALURU: Defending champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru beat Lucknow Super Giants by wickets to register their fourth win of the current IPL season. With this win, RCB moved to the top of the points table with eight points from five matches. They chased down the target of 147 runs in just 15.1 overs.
Chasing the target, RCB lost Phil Salt early for 7 (8) in the second over. Star batter Virat Kohli was the top scorer with 49 (34). Devdutt Padikkal scored 10 (11), captain Rajat Patidar made 27 (13), and wicketkeeper Jitesh Sharma added 23 (9). Tim David (14* off 8) and Romario Shepherd (14* off 8) remained unbeaten. For Lucknow, Prince Yadav took three wickets, while Avesh Khan picked up two.
Earlier, Lucknow Super Giants were bowled out for 146 in 20 overs. Only Mitchell Marsh, Ayush Badoni, and Mukesh Choudhary put up decent performances.
Marsh scored 40 (32), while Aiden Markram made 12 (8) before getting out early. Captain Rishabh Pant scored just 1 (6), and Nicholas Pooran managed 1 (7). Badoni made 38 (24) and Mukesh Choudhary scored 39 (38). Abdul Samad was dismissed for 0 (2). George Linde scored 7 (7), Mohammed Shami 0 (1), and Avesh Khan 1 (2).
For RCB, Bhuvneshwar Kumar took three wickets, while Rasikh Salam Dar picked up four. Krunal Pandya took two wickets, and Josh Hazlewood claimed one.
