NEW DELHI: A 16-year-old girl and a student of class 11 was gangraped inside a bus. The girl was found abandoned near Kashmere Gate in Delhi on August 4. The bus driver and conductor have been arrested in the incident.
The girl had travelled from Mainpuri in Uttar Pradesh to meet a relative in Noida. Police said that she travelled without informing her family. Due to heavy rain and darkness, she lost her way and got off at Pari Chowk in Greater Noida.
Meanwhile, the girl noticed an empty sleeper bus approaching and showed hands. The driver, Kuldeep, and conductor, Sandeep, told her that they were heading towards Noida Sector 63 and asked her to board the bus. According to her statement to police, the conductor began misbehaving with her shortly after the bus started moving. She alleged that the driver and conductor then abused her and threatened to kill her if she resisted.
The accused later abandoned her and fled. She then reached Kashmere Gate police station and informed the police about the incident. The accused were later arrested from a parking facility in Timarpur, North Delhi. The bus in which the incident happened has been sent for forensic examination.
Police said the accused found the girl while returning after getting repairs done to the bus. The bus travelled approximately 47 kilometres from Pari Chowk to Kashmere Gate during the period in which the crime took place. Police also said that the bus had curtains, preventing people outside from seeing what was happening inside.
