Electricity bill shock in October? KSEB to levy 3 paise per unit surcharge

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Kerala State Electricity Board (KSEB) has decided to levy a surcharge on consumers in October as well. The surcharge will be three paise per unit. The same rate will apply to both monthly and bimonthly electricity bills.

According to KSEB, it incurred an additional expenditure of Rs 6.88 crore in August to procure electricity from outside the state. The surcharge has been imposed in October to recover part of this additional cost. The amount will be included in the electricity bills issued for October.
