Boiling oil poured on Maveli in Kayamkulam; Complaint filed against shopkeeper

ALAPPUZHA: A complaint reached the police that a man dressed in a Maveli costume was assaulted in Kayamkulam on Saturday. As per the complaint, hot oil was thrown on the face of Chandrababu, a native of Karunagappally, who appeared in a Maveli costume in the area as part of the Onam celebration. The incident took place on the day of Avittam.

Chandrababu suffered burns on his face and hands. He said the tensions escalated following a minor argument while he was leaving after drinking tea from the shop. He also clarified that the oil did not fall on his head as he had an umbrella. He also clarified that a complaint has been filed with the Kayamkulam police regarding the incident.
