Devotion marks Mahasamadhi Day as followers remember Sree Narayana Guru

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The 99th Mahasamadhi Day of Sree Narayana Guru will be observed today by devotees and Sree Narayana organisations across the world, with special prayers and rituals. Special Guru Puja and community prayers will be held at the Mahasamadhi in Sivagiri, the Sree Narayana Gurukulam at Chempazhanthy, affiliated monasteries, Guru temples and Guru Mandirs.

The Maha Parinirvana conference organised by the Sree Narayana Dharma Sangham Trust at Sivagiri will be inaugurated by Chief Minister V.D. Satheesan at 10 am. The inauguration will also mark the beginning of the centenary observance of the Maha Parinirvana. Sree Narayana Dharma Sangham Trust president Swami Sachidananda will preside over the function. Minister T. Siddique will be the guest of honour. Trust board member Swami Sookshmananda, treasurer Swami Sharadananda and Sivagiri magazine chief editor Swami Avyayananda will deliver blessings. General secretary Swami Shubhangaananda will deliver the welcome address.

At 11.30 am, Minister O.J. Janeesh will inaugurate the Pallathuruthy Gurudeva Mahasandesha Centenary Conference. At 3 pm, a Kalasha procession will begin from Sarada Math. The procession will pass through Vaidika Math and the Samadhi Peetham of Bodhananda Swami before reaching the Mahasamadhi. It will be followed by Mahasamadhi Puja and Kalashabhishekam.

At the Sree Narayana Gurukulam in Chempazhanthy, a place sanctified by the birth of Sree Narayana Guru, the Mahasamadhi Day conference scheduled for 10 am will be inaugurated by Minister P.C. Vishnunath. V. Muraleedharan MLA will preside over the function. Swami Shankarananda will deliver the benediction.
