MUMBAI: Actress Hansika Motwani and her mother, Jyoti Motwani, have approached the Bombay High Court to quash an FIR filed against them by Hansika's sister-in-law, Muskaan Nancy James. The case accuses them of cruelty, harassment, and other offences under IPC sections 498A, 323, 504, and 506. Muskan, a television actress who separated from Hansika's brother Prashant in 2022, alleged that Hansika demanded ₹20 lakh for wedding expenses, interfered in her marriage, and installed CCTV cameras in her home without consent. She claimed the stress led to her developing Bell’s Palsy, a condition causing facial paralysis. Prashant and Muskaan married in 2020 but separated by 2022.

Hansika denied the allegations, claiming the FIR was a retaliatory act after she sought repayment of ₹27 lakh loaned for the wedding. She also dismissed claims of verbal and physical abuse. Both Hansika and her mother secured anticipatory bail in February 2025. The High Court has scheduled the next hearing for July 3. Hansika married her business partner Sohael Khaturiya in December 2022.
