CHENNAI: A native of Chennai threw a diamond necklace worth Rs 5 lakh into a trash accidentally. The man identified as Devaraj threw the necklace into the garbage. The necklace was gifted by his mother to his daughter as a wedding gift.

As soon as Devaraj realized his act, he immediately contacted the authorities. The necklace was found in the search conducted by the sanitation workers. J Antony Samy, the driver with the waste management company Urbaser Sumeet, a company contracted by the Chennai Corporation for waste management, searched the bins. Others too joined them. The necklace was later found entangled in the garbage. Devaraj expressed his gratitude to the authorities and the workers.

Similar incidents have been reported earlier. A woman had lost her diamond ring at the Bengaluru airport earlier. The timely intervention of the CISF helped the woman to find her lost ring.
