Invited to houseboat for sightseeing; foreign woman sexually assaulted during Kochi Biennale

KOCHI: A foreign woman has filed a complaint alleging that she was sexually assaulted by a man during the Biennale in Kochi. The complaint has been filed against Sumit Kattare, a native of Navi Mumbai. The Fort Kochi Police have registered a case in connection with the incident, which reportedly took place in January.

The complainant had come to Kochi to participate in the Biennale. She became acquainted with Sumit near the main venue of the event. According to the complaint, she had initially refused his invitation to have drinks. Later, he allegedly invited her to a houseboat, saying they could go sightseeing. The woman has alleged that she was sexually assaulted there.

After returning to her home country, the woman sent a complaint via email to the Kochi Police Commissioner. Based on the complaint, the police have registered a case and launched an investigation.
