Love blossomed in school days, eloped with Anil, Kala’s relatives believed she left hometown 

ALAPPUZHA: Relatives of Kala, who went missing 15 years ago, believed that she had left her hometown. She fell in love with Anil Kumar during her school days and eloped with him to start a life with him.

When Anil Kumar flew to South Africa, Kala eloped with Suraj of Palakkad. Kala's brother's wife, Shobhana Kumari, said that she called home twice. There was no information after that and everyone believed that she had left her hometown. The relatives came to know about the murder only when the police came home last Friday.

Kala, daughter of Chellappan and Chandrika went missing 15 years ago. The couple’s son was one year old then. Anil had filed a complaint with the police after she went missing. He wandered around at many places in the name of finding her. Meanwhile, Anil circulated that she eloped with someone, leaving him and the baby. Anil later got married a second time. Kala's son lives with them now.

The police have arrested five in connection with the incident. Anil's brother-in-law Somarajan, relatives Jinu Gopi, Pramod, Santhosh and Suresh Kumar are in custody. District Police Chief Chaithra Teresa John said that Anil was the mastermind of the murder. It is concluded that Anil's suspicion led to the murder. She was murdered in 2009. On the pretense of going on a tour, Kala was taken in a car and taken to Kuttanad. Anil killed her with the help of his relatives and dumped the body in the septic tank. They later told everyone that she went missing.
