KOCHI: A youth was beaten to death by a gang on charges of theft at a plywood company. The incident happened last night at Mudikkal in Perumbavoor. Six migrants have been taken into custody in connection with the murder. The dead has not been identified. He is also suspected to be a migrant.

All six taken into custody are natives of Assam. While working at the plywood company, the accused used to put all their phones in a box and keep them in a separate place. The gang of six questioned him and brutally beat him to death using weapons found nearby. The dead had injury marks all over his body. Police said the victim was beaten so severely that even his teeth were shattered. On being informed, the police arrived and took the accused into custody.

The accused are being interrogated. The two phones that were reported missing were later found on the company premises. The body has been kept at the Perumbavoor Taluk Hospital.
