Railway employee arrested in Kannur for sexually abusing minor girl in train

KANNUR: A 10-year-old girl was sexually assaulted in a train. The incident happened at the Kannur railway station. The police have arrested the railway employee identified as Nanhaq of Uttar Pradesh.

The girl was travelling with her family. When the train reached Kannur railway station, her mother got out to get water. At this time, Nanhaq approached the girl and was sexually assaulting her. He then fled from the spot. The girl told her mother about the incident when she returned.

The girl’s mother immediately informed the railway police. They identified the accused during investigation but could not arrest him. They tried to arrest him from Kozhikode railway station but were unsuccessful. The accused was arrested from Ernakulam. He was produced in the court and remanded. The police are also investigating whether he had troubled anyone else in a similar manner.
