Youth stabbed to death in Kattakkada; two arrested

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A youth was stabbed to death in Kattakkada. The dead has been identified as Rahul (24) of Elluvila in Kattakkada. The incident happened near Rajasree Auditorium at Killy in Kattakada at around 11 pm last night. The Kattakkada police have arrested two youths in connection with the incident. The arrested individuals have been identified as Killi Panayamkode native Rahul (18) and Poovachal Konniyoor native Usman (23), who lives for rent in Killi.

According to the police, Rahul's love affair with a relative of the first accused Rahul led to the murder. The accused had called Rahul to the spot where the incident happened. During an argument that followed, Rahul was stabbed with a sharp weapon attached to a vehicle key. The deep wound near his left rib is believed to be the cause of death.

Rahul, who fell unconscious, was taken by his friends to the Kattakkada Government Hospital and later to a private hospital. He died early in the morning while undergoing treatment at Neyyar Medicity Hospital. Rahul was unmarried and worked in tiles and interlock paving.

The accused, who tried to escape, were caught by the police from the Killi area. Police said the weapon used in the murder is yet to be recovered. The court has remanded the accused.
