KOCHI: Actor Aju Varghese has issued a public warning against fraudulent loan advertisements using his name and image on social media. The unauthorized ads, circulating under the name "AM Trust Loan Services," feature a digital card promoting an "Easy Personal Loan" of up to ₹3 lakh.
In a Facebook post, Aju urged the public not to fall for the scam, clarifying that he has no association with the entity.
"It has come to my notice that an unauthorized banking entity is using my name and image for their promotions without my consent. I have no association with this scheme; please do not fall for these fake promises and risk your hard-earned money. Thank you," Aju wrote.
Aju Varghese is not the only victim; several Malayalam stars have seen their pictures exploited by fake loan apps and services. These groups aim to leverage a celebrity’s credibility to lure ordinary people into debt traps. It is becoming increasingly common for people to be attracted by these advertisements, only to find themselves in a financial crisis fueled by exorbitant interest rates and predatory threats.
