Covid: Mass testing in state on Thursday and Friday, 3.75 lakh people will be tested

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Health Minister Veena George has announced the launch of an augmented testing strategy by the health department to strengthen the fight against Covid-19 in the state. The health department aims to conduct a mass testing of 3.75 lakh people on Thursdays and Fridays. 1.25 lakh people will be tested on Thursday and 2.5 lakh on Friday. The test will be performed to identify specific areas and areas where the disease persists. The minister said the Covid defense would be further strengthened by analyzing the test results available.

All patients with symptoms of influenza, those with severe respiratory infections, those with no symptoms of Covid disease but having diabetes, hypertension, those under 45 years of age who interact with the crowd, those over 45 years of age who have not been vaccinated, those with contact with Covid patients, all patients who seek treatment for other diseases (as per doctor's suggestion) will be subjected to Covid test. Those who have recovered from the disease have been excluded from the tests.

These samples will be sent to existing testing centres and mobile labs. In addition, testing camps will be organized. Those who become positive will be isolated as per the existing norms, the minister said.
