THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The state government has made changes to its recent IPS-level transfers, overturning several decisions announced last week. One of the key revisions includes the cancellation of ADGP M.R. Ajith Kumar’s appointment as Excise Commissioner. He will now remain in his current role as Battalion ADGP. The reversal follows reports of discontent among senior police officials over the previous reshuffle.

Mahipal Yadav, who was briefly posted as ADGP of the Crime Branch, will now remain as Excise Commissioner. Similarly, ADGP Balram Kumar Upadhyay, who had been shifted to the Police Academy, will instead continue as the head of the Prisons Department. K. Sethuraman, earlier appointed IG of Prisons, has been retained at the Police Academy. Further changes include the transfer of P. Prakash, who was designated as IG of Coastal Police, to the Crime Records Bureau. A. Akbar, initially named IG of Internal Security, has now been posted to lead the Coastal Police division.

ADGP S. Sreejith, currently at Police Headquarters, has been given additional charge of Cyber Operations. ADGP H. Venkatesh, in charge of law and order, will also oversee the Crime Branch. IG Sparjan Kumar, currently heading the Thiruvananthapuram Crime Branch, has been assigned additional charge of the Ernakulam and Kozhikode IG ranges.
