KOCHI: Heavy rain brought much-needed relief from the scorching summer heat in Ernakulam, with several areas witnessing intense showers. Strong winds accompanied the rain, uprooting trees in many parts of the district, including Aluva. The fallen trees disrupted traffic and caused power outages in some areas. The downpour continued for over an hour across different parts of the city.

Meanwhile, the India Meteorological Department has issued a warning for rainfall in Kerala over the next five days. Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning are likely at isolated places from tomorrow until the 22nd. Light rain is also expected in isolated areas across all districts tomorrow.
