MALAPPURAM: The dead body found in the water tank of an uninhabited house in Athipatta, Valanchery, was identified as that of a maid from a neighbouring house. Police identified the victim as Fathima, a native of Athipatta. She was a maid at a neighbouring house. The cause of death has not been confirmed.

The body of the young woman was found in the water tank of an uninhabited house around 11 am on Sunday. The body was discovered by a worker who came to clean the tank this morning. The owner of the house and his family have been settled in abroad for years. The only person in the house was a security guard. The woman was identified during the subsequent investigation.

The victim was wearing gold ornaments at the time of death. It was reported that Fathima left her house at 10 am on Sunday. Police doubt the death to be a case of suicide. After the inquest proceedings, the body will be shifted to Manjeri Medical College Hospital for postmortem,
