ALAPPUZHA: Ambalappuzha seems to be a prestige issue for CPM this time. Former Minister and CPM leader G. Sudhakaran contested this time in UDF colours against the incumbent H Salam. Reports emerged of fear in the CPM camp over a possible defeat in the constituency. The party's booth-level review revealed that victory against G. Sudhakaran would not be easy. Now, LDF candidate H. Salam MLA came with a clarification.
Salam, in his Facebook post, said that he had no doubts about registering a win in the constituency for the second time.
Salam claims that LDF will get more than 62,000 votes this time. He said that people from all castes and religious groups and those outside the Left party have voted for him. The majority will change depending on the number of BJP votes that G. Sudhakaran gets. Salam clarified that if the BJP votes go to the UDF, the majority for CPM will be around 5,000, while if the Saffron party gets more than 20,000 votes, the majority will cross 10,000.
Salam even asked the media not to have any doubts about the results in Ambalappuzha this time. He said that the voters have responded to the betrayal of Sudhakaran, who left CPM for UDF in the elections.
