THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The rescue operation is in progress in the incident of the accident of the cleaning worker Joy while trying to remove the garbage from Amayizhanjan Canal. The scuba diving team has suspended the search until the garbage in the manhole is cleared. A robot has been brought to the spot to remove the waste from the manhole. Gen Robotics, a company based in Technopark, has been brought the robot to remove the garbage.

There is also a facility to watch the robot's actions through a monitor while removing waste. Joy went missing after entering the canal at 11 am today. Thiruvananthapuram Mayor Arya Rajendran, district collector and others are camping at the incident site. At the same time, the rescue operation at Amayizhanjan Canal, which is a garbage dump, is extremely difficult.

The people who were with him said that Joy was given a rope to climb after being swept away by the current, but couldn't. Three people came for cleaning work. There was heavy rain and more water flowed into the canal. Due to this, Joey was swept away. As the water receded, the scuba diving team was unable to dive and inspect the garbage-filled canal.

The rescuers dived in and went forward, but to no avail. With this, the rescue operation became complicated. At the same time, the fire force tried remove all the garbage inside the canal. Mayor Arya Rajendran told the media that more staff will be brought in to intensify the garbage removal.

"Only after removing the garbage can we go inside the tunnel and do the inspection. Joy, who was swept away by the stream inside the canal, is not a temporary employee of the municipality. The work was not planned to be done today due to the rain. The garbage will be completely removed," Arya Rajendran said.
