Tamil Nadu native dies in police custody in Thrikkakkara; preliminary conclusion points to heart attack

KOCHI: A Tamil Nadu native who was in police custody died in Thrikkakkara. The deceased has been identified as Baburaj (50), a native of Dindigul. He died early in the morning while undergoing treatment at a hospital. Baburaj was first detained by locals after he was found in suspicious circumstances and was later handed over to the Thrikkakara police. The death occurred while he was in custody at the police station.

Late at night, Baburaj reportedly developed symptoms of epilepsy inside the cell. As his condition worsened, he was immediately taken to the hospital. However, doctors confirmed his death at around 3:10 am. Police have given a preliminary conclusion that the cause of death was a heart attack.

The police have informed his relatives in Tamil Nadu about the incident. Inquest procedures and post-mortem will be conducted after the relatives arrive in Kochi. Police said the exact cause of death can be confirmed only after the post-mortem comes out.
