Man arrested for extorting money and sexually assaulting a widow after establishing friendship through Facebook

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Man arrested for befriending a widow through Facebook, abusing and extorting money from her with a promise of marriage. Nasheel (31) of Kannur Thalassery Poyanad Mambaram Karumbarat House was the one who got arrested. The arrest was for molesting a young woman from Ernakulam who is a widow and mother of a child.

According to the complaint filed by the woman, Nasheel, who befriended the woman through Facebook, took her to various hotels in Ernakulam, abused her, and extorted Rs 2 lakh. A complaint was filed at Ernakulam Central Station after he tried to avoid the woman. Nasheel got to know about the complaint and turned off the phone and went into hiding. In an investigation led by CI S Vijayashankar, with the help of cyber cell, Nasheel was nabbed from Aluva. The accused was remanded.
