Conflict in Kochi Corporation; police and the protestors clashed, several people injured

KOCHI: Clash at Kochi Corporation office regarding the fire at Brahmapuram waste plant. Police lathi-charged the UDF workers who came to stop the Kochi mayor. Many protestors were injured in the ruckus with the police. Mayor M Anil Kumar had to enter his office under the police cordon.

The UDF's attempt to close the shutter of the office was stopped by police. Police ousted everyone except for the councilors from the office. There is tension both inside and outside the municipal office. CPM workers are also trying to defend outside the gate. The clash occurred when an emergency council meeting was about to take place. The meeting had to be wrapped up quickly. The protesters broke the window of the mayor's office.
