THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Milma has hiked the prices of milk without any prior notice. Milma's green and yellow covers will cost more. Milma Rich, which was Rs 29, will now cost Rs 30, and Milma Smart, which was Rs 24, will cost Rs 25. The new rate will come into effect from tomorrow.
Meantime, Dairy Development Minister J Chinchurani responded that she was not aware of the hike. ‘Milma increased the price. I think they did it because they are allowed to do so. I can't tell you any situation of hiking the price. They should have informed about the price hike. Milk is less now due to the hot summers in Kerala, but the department is taking all efforts to increase the production as much as possible. Different schemes are also being implemented. Rich milk is thick milk and may be because of that the price was increased,’ said Chinchurani .
Milma chairman K S Mani explained that the price of milk has been consolidated.
