80-year-old woman resists rape attempt, culprit youngster: incident in Kochi

KOCHI: A man has been arrested for trying to sexually assault an 80-year-old woman who is also his neighbor. Nebumbassery native Sudheesh (37) was arrested for the crime.

The senile woman was living alone after her daughter's marriage. Sudheesh after entering the home tried groping and assaulting her which was fiercely resisted by the woman. She got a grab of the assailant's hair after which somehow her fingers reached the switch button. The lights went on and she heaved in shock as it was her neighbor Sudheesh in an inebriated condition. She raised the alarm as the locals reached the house to nab Sudheesh.

A painter by profession, Sudheesh was out from work for a long time. Drinking alcohol was his favorite pastime, but committing such a grave crime was unprecedented by his standards.
