THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The government has announced a vigilance probe against opposition leader V D Satheeshan. The opposition leader during the flood time of 2018, initiated a 'Punarjani scheme' meant to help the flood affected in his constituency of Paravoor. However, accusations surfaced later about the congress veteran taking financial assistance from foreign land without the central government's approval.
A complaint was filed against Satheeshan in the Chalakudy's Kathikudam action council. If the accusations ring true in the preliminary findings, a more detailed investigation will be opened against the opposition leader.
The vigilance director reached the speaker A N Shamseer for approval to proceed with the investigation against V D Satheeshan. Meanwhile, the speaker retorted back saying his permission is not requisite for initiating a preliminary investigation against any of the members of the assembly. Minding this development, CM Pinarayi Vijayan gave assent for vigilance to probe into the matter.
