KOCHI: The Indian stock market hit a record high on the strength of good growth in the financial sector and pro-BJP indications in the exit poll results. The Bombay Stock Index rose 492.75 points to close at 67,481.19. The national index gained 134.70 points to 20,267.90. Investors were buoyed by a 7.6 percent growth in gross domestic growth in the three months from July to September. The exit results predicted that BJP will come to power in two big states. With this, both domestic and foreign investors bought shares in large numbers. The market is buoyed by the perception that India is safe even as the world heads into a deep recession.
