THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Some districts in Kerala are likely to receive light rain tonight, raising hopes of some relief amid the ongoing power crisis and power cuts. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast light rain at isolated places in Alappuzha, Kottayam, Idukki and Malappuram over the next three hours. Earlier, the weather department had forecast light rain across all districts in the state on Friday.
Meanwhile, a low-pressure area continues over the northwest and west-central Bay of Bengal and the adjoining southern Odisha–northern Andhra Pradesh coast. It is likely to intensify further in the next 24 hours and move west-northwestwards through the northern coastal Andhra Pradesh–southern Odisha region.
A cyclonic circulation is also prevailing over the central-eastern Arabian Sea, near the Konkan coast. Under its influence, Kerala is likely to receive light to moderate rain from September 11 to 15.
